Frequently asked questions

Security levels, cut types, auto-feed, maintenance, shipping and payment.

Which security level (P-4, P-5 or P-7) do I need?

P-4 in cross-cut covers most confidential office documents. For personnel, finance and secrecy-critical files, the finer P-5 micro-cut is recommended. For the highest requirements, P-7 reduces every sheet to 1×1 mm particles. Choose according to the sensitivity of your data.

What is the difference between cross-cut and micro-cut?

Cross-cut (level P-4) cuts the sheet lengthwise and crosswise into many small sections. Micro-cut (P-5 and P-7) produces much finer particles — the finer the cut pattern, the higher the security level and the harder any reconstruction.

How does the automatic feed on the 200-sheet model work?

You place the stack (up to 200 sheets) in the feed tray, close the lid and start the machine. The shredder pulls in the sheets on its own and shreds unattended while you carry on working. Individual sheets, credit cards or CDs are fed through the separate manual slot when needed.

How long can I shred without a break?

The office and high-security models are built for continuous duty: 60-minute models run a full hour at a stretch, and the P-7 model up to 25 minutes. A short cool-down follows before the next run begins.

What do I do about a paper jam?

Do not overfill the feed beyond the stated sheet count. If a jam occurs, use the reverse function to back the paper out and remove it. When in doubt, briefly unplug the machine. Please separate heavily folded or bundled paper before feeding.

Do I need to oil and maintain the shredder?

Micro-cut machines (P-5/P-7) benefit from regular oiling of the cutting head — it keeps the cut clean and capacity high. Use suitable shredder oil. Empty the bin in good time; an overfull bin is the most common cause of reduced performance.

Can I also destroy credit cards, CDs and staples?

Yes — besides paper, SEKURA models also destroy credit cards, CDs/DVDs and staples; the exact material list is in each machine's technical data. Feed cards and discs one at a time and observe the stated sheet capacity.

Does a shredder help with GDPR compliance?

The GDPR requires personal data to be destroyed securely and irretrievably. A shredder with a suitable security level to DIN 66399 is a recognised means of doing so. Which level is appropriate for your specific use case depends on the sensitivity of the data — when in doubt, coordinate with your data protection officer.
